Congratulations on your purchase of Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ (FPC). You are about to embark on a journey into the world of joyful literacy education. This journey is exciting, new, and filled with an abundance of new opportunities for your classroom. We want to assure you that we will be there with you every step of the way—As you unpack, as you get to know your materials, and as you begin to teach your first 8 weeks in the classroom, and beyond. Let’s get started!

STEP 2: LOG INTO ONLINE RESOURCES

You have unpacked and now it’s time to log into your Online Resources. Online Resources holds many useful materials that you’ll need to teach Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™. Watch the videos below to log in and get acquainted.

An Online Resources Guide: A tour of Online Resources including how to navigate the site, where to locate helpful videos and tutorials, highlights of the most important resources for your context(s), and what not to miss.

STEP 3: GET TO KNOW YOUR MATERIALS

Now that you’ve unpacked and logged into your Online Resources account, it’s time get familiar with your materials. In these videos you will learn about the context you’ve purchased including an overview of all materials, how to navigate the lessons, teaching suggestions, and other helpful tips. These videos are a great place to start before you begin teaching, and to refer back to when you have questions.

STEP 4: START PLANNING

Now that you’ve become acquainted with your materials, it’s time to start planning. Refer to Preparing for FPC: An Interactive Action Plan and the Getting Started Videos to begin preparing and to get acquainted with Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™. The Interactive Action Plan is a great tool for defining your vision and values, setting goals, getting to know FPC, and for planning your literacy time.

After you’ve completed both the Interactive Action Plan and the Getting Started Videos, it’s time to move onto teaching. Provided for you in online resources and in FPLD are 180 Day Plans to help you get started with teaching Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™. Refer to the 180 Day Plans located in Online Resources and FPLD for your grade level to see what putting it all together might look like.
